Dangerous Days of Daniel X

Aliens, butt kicking, butt-kicking aliens, image from the imagination that become real, and more alien butt kicking! What more could a gal ask for?

Kasia certainly isn't into the princess books, but she does love a good adventure. And to be honest, this is something Bug could get into, also. She's 8 but she reads at a higher level, yet has a much smaller attention span. The chapters are really short, yet make you want to continue reading on...and on...and on. (In fact, *I* had a hard time not reading "just one more chapter" when I managed to wrestle the book away from the kids.)

Daniel's an alien, and an alien hunter (some aliens are bad; some are good), just like his dad was. He's got a mission! He's also able to bend and shift atoms to a great extent, and so things in his imagination come to life...really! The kids thought that was a great "superpower" to have. Our favorite parts were when he shape-shifted, and especially when he found "home."

While I know Patterson for a different kind of series, I kind of dig that he can get into writing something clean and appropriate for kids. It's light, easy to read, and doesn't lock you in to heavy details, which is why, if you have to put the book down for any length of time, like say for instance your kids commandeer the book for a few days, you won't "lose your place" and have to try to remember certain things.

We really like James Patterson (and the girls loved Maximum Ride). They want to read the next installment of the Daniel X series. We're always up for another exciting page-turning adventure, and so far James Patterson (and Michael Ledwidge) have hit the mark again.
